    • Videos: .mpg, .modern, .mmv, .tod, .wmv, .asf, .avi, .divx, .mov, .m4v, .3gp, .3g2, .mp4, .m2t, .m2ts, .mts, and .mkv files.

If you endeavor to back up a file type not listed here, it may not work with Google Photos.

Important: Your Google Account storage is shared across multiple products like Google Photos, Google Drive, and Gmail. If you accept used all of your storage, you won't exist able to dorsum up new files.

Prepare Google Drive for desktop

  1. On your computer, download and install Google Bulldoze for Desktop.
  2. Sign in to your Google Business relationship.
  3. Select the folders or pictures you want to back upwardly and thenBack upward to Google Photos.
  4. Select Washed and thenSave.

Important:

  • If you remove a photo or video from your computer that you previously backed up to Google Photos, it stays in Google Photos.
  • If you remove a photo or video from Google Photos, it isn't removed from Google Drive or your estimator.
  • Uploads tin be slower and use more storage if you back up to both Google Photos and Google Drive. Unless you need a second copy in Drive, we recommend you support photos and videos to Google Photos.

If you already take Backup and Sync for Drive

Backup and Sync is now Google Bulldoze for desktop.

If you lot already accept Backup and Sync installed, you'll be migrated to Google Drive for desktop.

To upgrade sooner, uninstall Backup and Sync and so follow the steps above to set Google Drive for desktop.

Select a different upload size

You lot can alter the upload size for photos and videos backed up to Google Photos from your computer.

Important: You can't change the upload size for files synced with Google Bulldoze.

Support your Apple Photo Library (Mac only)

If your computer runs macOS, yous tin back up your System Photo Library to Google Photos.

Tips:

  • If you take more 1 Apple tree Photos Library, just the System Photo Library will be backed upwardly. You can use Apple Photos to alter the System Photo Library.
  • If your Apple Photo Library is synced with iCloud, all photos and videos in your library and deject will be backed up to Google Photos on macOS 10.xv and above.

Upload items to Google Photos from your browser

  1. On your computer, open photos.google.com.
  2. At the top right, click Upload and thenEstimator.
  3. Discover and select your photos.
  4. Click Open.
